Stroke Unit Launched at Sohar Hospital
The Ministry of Health (MOH) launched recently a stroke unit at Sohar Hospital under the patronage of H.E. Muhana bin Saif Al-Lamki, Governor of North Batinah with the presence of H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Ya'rub AL-Busaidi, MOH Advisor.
The stroke unit, which includes eight beds, is equipped with the required medical equipment based on global standards.
The actual operation of the Unit was started on January 8, 2017, to receive the patients and provide the necessary service. A 126 stroke-case were received in the Unit, three of them have been treated and fully recovered.
Dr. Majid bin Sultan al-Muqbali, Director of Sohar Hospital stressed in his opening speech on the keenness of Ministry of Health in launching stroke units in order to improve the health system that ensures complete health services provided for those who exposed to strokes.
Dr. Amal Al-Hashmi, neurology consultant and head of central stroke unit at Khawla Hospital pointed out to the Ministry's efforts in establishing strokes units to provide best and advanced treatments in this field including Tissue Plasminogen Activator – TPA.
H.E. Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al-Shamsi, Wali of Sohar, Director General of Health Services in North Batinah along with a number of municipal council members and MOH senior officials have attended the ceremony.
