Sultanate Marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work
Al Nahda Hospital represented by the department of Environmental Health & Occupational Safety celebrated on Wednesday, along with many stakeholders, the World Occupational Safety & Health Day. The celebration was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ya’rub Al Busaidi, MOH’s Advisor for Health Affairs at the Hospital’s Conference Hall.
The celebration aimed to promote the workers’ culture on health and safety from all government and private sectors, and raise awareness on and prevention from occupational injuries that occur in the workplace environment. Furthermore, the celebration introduced the participants to the psychological and social risks, as well as to workplace stress and management, in addition to familiarizing them with the emergency plans in case of fire abruptness at their institutions. Moreover, the event presented for the community members the services offered by the governmental and private sector institutions in the field of occupational health and safety.
A collective participation from various sectors marked this World Day that included Al Nahda hospital’s department of Environmental Health & Occupational Safety and departments of Training and Infection Control, in addition to the Ministry of Manpower, Search & Rescue Team and Ambulance Team from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA), along with the Public Authority of Social Insurance (PASI) and several supportive Private Sector Institutions.
It is worth noting that the effective implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Programs will result in the reduction of the losses and injuries’ costs, thus increasing productivity by ensuring safe and healthy working conditions and environments for workers. Meanwhile, securing the environment will provide protection from factors that may affect the workers’ health and their productive efficiency, and above all is maintaining the machines and equipment as to remain in good condition.
