In continuation of the central role played by the Sultanate of Oman at the regional and international levels that aligns with its policy in fulfilling the interest of human being, and in translation of the royal believe of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq- may Allah blesses him- that relies in spreading the message of peace, H. E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health headed the Sultanate delegation participating at the World Health Summit 2022 held in Berlin, German till October 18.
The participation of the Sultanate of Oman at this forum stresses its tireless efforts in attaining cohesion and cooperation for peacekeeping and using the health as a bridge for global peace.
The Sultanate of Oman speech at the WHS session on Global Health Insights shed light on the significance of Global Health for Peace Initiative (GHPI) and how health interventions can contribute to peace and social cohesion through fostering dialogue, building trust, or address grievances.
The word emphasized that the Global Health for Peace Initiative (GHPI) is founded on the firm conviction of the Sultanate of Oman that local, regional and global peace is a top priority, and a condition of social and economic development. It is an essential requirement for health development and improving the health status of people and quality of life.
The initiative, co-founded by the Sultanate of Oman and Switzerland and approved by the WHO Executive Board, uses health as a way to reduce the gaps between the conflicting parties, a gateway to discuss peacebuilding means, and an approach to engage these parties in an open dialogue on other related issue, the word elaborated.
The address referred to the necessity of deploying the broader utilization of health to be used in more effective manner as a real bridge for peace. This is possible with the firm commitment of Member States, partners and organizations to strengthen ties between health and peace.
This year’s World Health Summit addressed global risks and threats, such as climate change and ecosystem degradation, as well as epidemics,natural and human-created disasters, conflicts, and violence. It also focuses on new approaches to investment in health and other health issues and challenges. .
