Sultanate Participates in Primary Health Care International Conference
The Sultanate represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) is taking part in the second International Conference on Primary Health Care: Towards Universal Health Coverage & Sustainable Development Goals, which took place today (Thursday) at Astana, Kazakhstan. The Sultanate’s delegation is led by MOH Undersecretary for Health Affairs H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Hosni.
the two-day conference aims at renewing the commitment of the World Health Organization’s State Members to strengthening primary health care to achieve universal health coverage and the sustainable development goals as set by the Declaration of Alma-Ata that started 40 years ago (1978).
The conference discusses the demographic and social changes, urbanization, globalization, as well as increased financial cost for health care, and alteration of the epidemiological map due to high rate of chronic diseases.
This global gathering represents a platform for exchanging experience among the participated State members to develop and boost primary health care domains forward uplifting care competency by utilizing the available resources.
It should be noted that the Sultanate is providing free health services for all its citizens and assumes leading positions in number of health fields.
