Sultanate Takes Part in Arab Health Ministers Meeting
The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health took part today (Monday) via videoconference in the 54th ordinary session of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Health Ministers Council.
The Sultanate was represented in the meeting by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, with the presence of a number of senior officials.
The meeting is part of the standing coordination between the Arab countries to consolidate efforts exerted in promoting the health sector and studying the Covid-19 repercussions in the Arab region.
Dr. Faiqa Al-Saleh, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Head of the Session inaugurated the 54th ordinary session and praising the cooperation of the Arab countries to make the health and safety of people on the top priorities of the region. Al-Saleh pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic is still causing a threat and challenge, stressing that promoting the response efforts is a must.
Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al-Mandhari, Regional Director of World Health Organization in the Middle East praised the total support received by the technical teams, which studying and monitoring the most important changes and effects of Covid-19, during their visits to the countries. Al-Mandhari stressed the great benefit and experience of the partnership between the Arab and foreign countries, which makes the Arab countries capable to address this kind of challenge in the future.
The meeting touched upon the proposal submitted by the Kingdom of Bahrain on the Arab strategic plan regarding the availability of public health services in the context of asylum, as well as the possibility of standardizing health legislation in the Arab countries and the Arab Fund for Health Development.
A proposal submitted from the Republic of China on the Arab-Chinese Cooperation in the health field was addressed during the meeting. In addition, the meeting also highlighted the Arab-American cooperation to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
At the end of the meeting, recommendations and the meeting's agenda were adopted. All the participants thanked the Arab medical staff for their significant efforts in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.
