The Ministry of Health, represented by Al-Masarra Hospital, organized today (Wednesday) a scientific symposium on the Impact of Technology on Mental Health.
The event was held under the patronage H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, MOH’s Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, in the presence of Dr. Badr Al-Habsi, Director of Al-Masarra Hospital, along with a number of medical and assistant medical staff and employees of the hospital.
By shedding light on the impact of technology on mental health, the symposium aimed at enhancing awareness on how technology affects mental health, as well as to find solutions for using it in a way that supports mental well-being.
The symposium consisted of three sessions papers presented by members from the Ministry and various government authorities in the Sultanate of Oman including Public Prosecution, Royal Oman Police, and Ministry of Education.
The first panel highlighted the impact of technology on the cognitive and linguistic development of children, and the World Health Organization's vision in enhancing digital borders and harnessing artificial intelligence for health care.
Several lectures were held on the second session including the impact of technology on elderly and exploring innovative solutions, Artificial Intelligence and mental health, and The impact of technology on the evolution of cybercrime and the development of strategies to counter these challenges.
Moreover, the impact of technology on sleep quality and methods to enhance comfort was underlined at the third session, in addition to electronic extortion. The impact of technology in education: exploiting the benefits and facing the challenges in the world of technology was highlighted.
