Under the theme “advancing clinical practice in nephrology”, the 16th Think Kidney Symposium, organized by the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate represented by Bausher Dialysis Center, in collaboration with the Oman Society of Nephrology and Transplantation (OSNT), convened today (Thursday) at Ma'ani Hotel.
The opening ceremony was under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, MOH’s Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, with the presence of Dr. Samira Al-Maimani, Acting Director General of Muscat Health, and several other officials.
More than (100) professionals in nephrology and other medical disciplines took part in the event.
The Symposium, run by prominent consultant and specialists from Oman and abroad, discussed a range of important topics in nephrology, including the development of kidney transplantation in Oman, the national guidelines, and future prospects. It also addressed clinical outcomes and innovations in the field of Hemofiltration.
Sessions further covered vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease, with a focus on prevention and management strategies, in addition to improving the quality of care for dialysis patients, strategies for managing dysfunctional hemodialysis catheters, and the clinical benefits of non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in CKD. The best practices for improving the efficiency of peritoneal dialysis was also discussed.
Several research studies and case reports from various dialysis centers and renal dialysis units across Oman were presented.
The event concluded with a focus on innovative approaches to managing bone disorders in children with chronic kidney disease. These discussions provided valuable insights and practical solutions aimed at improving kidney care and enhancing patient outcomes.
