In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector, Tunisian Minister of Health H.E. Dr. Mustapha Ferjani has begun an official multi-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The visit seeks to enhance the exchange of expertise, coordinate joint efforts to address regional and global health challenges, and follow up on the outcomes of the ‘One Health, One Future’ Regional Conference, held in Tunisia last June with Omani participation.
As part of his visit, H.E. Dr. Ferjani and his accompanying delegation met today (Sunday) the Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al-Sabti at the Ministry headquarters.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged cordial discussions and reviewed matters of mutual interest, including the health systems of both countries, key achievements in the sector, and opportunities to expand future partnerships and collaboration.
Undersecretaries and several senior officials from the Ministry of Health attended the meeting, along with members of the Tunisian delegation.
Following the meeting, an official session of talks was held chaired by Oman's Minister of Health, and his Tunisian counterpart.
Both sides explored ways to enhance collaboration across various health-related fields in line with mutual interests. Oman presented its leading experience in managing health emergencies and medical response to crises and disasters.
The discussions also covered several key topics, including improving the efficiency of healthcare services, enabling secure and seamless data exchange, upskilling human resources to keep pace with global medical advancements, achieving pharmaceutical security, and strengthening joint capacity to combat pandemics and cross-border diseases.
Later, the Tunisian Health Minister joined a session at the Ministry’s Innovation Center, where Omani health officials gave presentations on various topics, including the One Health approach, primary healthcare systems, and the use of artificial intelligence in retinal screening.
The Tunisian delegation also visited the Ministry of Health’s Center for Emergency Management, where they were briefed on Oman’s approach to crisis and disaster management in the health sector.
Moreover, the delegation visited the National Heart Center at the Royal Hospital, and toured its various departments and clinics. They were briefed on the Center's specialties and the healthcare services it provides.
