UNFPA Visits Health Masirah Initiative
H.E. Talal bin Saif Al-Hosni, Wali of Masirah received in his office recently the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) team currently visiting Masirah Island to review Health Masirah Island Initiative.
The initiative is carried by the Ministry of Health (MOH) within the Community Health Initiatives in collaboration with several public and private sectors along with related international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNFPA.
During the meeting, the Wali welcomed the visiting delegation, expressed his interest in this vital initiative which strengths partnership with the community and raises the health awareness.
The Ministry has been working on planning to adopt community initiatives based on a partnership with the community since the nineties and is currently implemented this approach in three health cities, two health lifestyle projects and around 25 health villages at different governorates of the Sultanate.
Dr. Said bin Hareb Al-Lamki, MOH Director General of Primary Health Care touched on the importance of community initiatives as an advanced tool in the primary health care systems. He also added that the community partnership and intersectorial cooperation are one of the major aspects adopted by the Ministry of Health to achieve the development and integration between various health programs.
Director of Community Initiatives, Dr. Huda Al-Siyabia, talk about the Health Masirah Island Initiative and the vision of the Community Activities Center, which is one of the most important factors of the implementation plan of the Island initiative.
