The Ministry of Health represented by the Department of Woman and Child Health in collaboration with the Royal Hospital organized recently a workshop on the safe transfer of critical pediatric cases.

The workshop targeted pediatricians in the secondary health institutions and nurses working at the pediatric critical care (PICU) and premature babies care units across the Sultanate.

The two-day workshop aimed at upgrading competency of health institutions and health workers in the field of safe transfer of pediatric patients, in addition to qualifying an advanced CPR-trained team. 

The workshop included both lectures and on-hand training on children resuscitation, and first and advanced aids.

Similar workshops will be conducted during this year and next year 2022 to increase the number of trained health workers.

The workshop is part of the tenth Five Health Plan aiming at raising quality of safe transfer of the pediatric patient services. Meanwhile, the Ministry has updated and adopted Guidelines for the Safe Transportation of clinically Ill Children, which is to be included in A’Shifa system and MOH Portal for health workers’ ease of reference in public or private health institutions.

It is worthy noted that the Paediatric Safe Transfer program was launched in 2011 where a national trainers were prepared by experts from United Kingdom.
