A workshop to define strategic initiatives and projects for the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) for Health Priority, organized by the Ministry of Health’s Directorate General of Planning, commenced today ( Wednesday).
The opening was held under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, MOH’s Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, with a wide participation from all concerned governmental and private sectors, the Medical City for Military and Security Services, as well as community members.
The two-day workshop is part of the preparations for developing the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). It follows a series of discussion workshops that focused on analyzing the current situation of the health sector, identifying strengths and weaknesses, as well as the available opportunities for improvement. The risks that may face the implementation of the upcoming plan were also analyzed, and the root causes of current health challenges were identified to develop sustainable solutions to overcome them.
This workshop comes as a continuation of the achievements from previous phases, where it will focus on defining the strategic and executive programs for the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, which will transform the strategic directions of the health priority objectives in Oman Vision 2040, that aim at establishing a leading healthcare system with international standards achieving a sustainable health for all.
The workshop is conducted to define the strategic initiatives and projects that will support the executive programs to achieve the strategic objectives of the health priority in Oman Vision 2040, set indicators and determine key targets for these initiatives and projects, as well propose an effective mechanism for monitoring and evaluation.
The event covers number of topics including public health promotion, developing a healthcare financing system, universal health coverage, strengthening the pharmaceutical economy and drug security, and healthcare in the private health sector.
The workshop seeks to strengthen partnerships between various governmental, private, and military entities to improve the quality of health services and achieve Oman’s vision within a well-organized and defined timeline.
