Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are responsible for 80% of all deaths in the Sultanate of Oman [1], and 36% of all deaths are from cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) [2]. Excess salt consumption can cause high blood pressure and other NCDs. According to a recent study, the average salt consumption was nine grams per day [3]; nearly double the 5-gram per day intake recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) [4].
