Ibn Sina Psychiatric Hospital (1984-2013) was renamed Al Masrra Hospital after moving to the new building and opening on 14-4-2013 where It was the beginning of psychotherapy in the early 1970s at Al-Rahma Hospital.

Al Masarra Hospital is the only hospital for Psychiatry in the Sultanate of Oman, The Psychiatry services are classified into General Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry. Besides that, the hospital provides treatment for alcohol and substance misuse addict patients. The other services rendered at this state-of-the-art hospital include psychology, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Al Masarra Hospital is a training center for various categories, such as resident doctors enrolled in the Oman Medical Specialties Board (OMSB), medical students at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), and nursing students from different colleges and institutions.
