The 25th Oman Otolaryngology, Head & Neck and Audiology Conference officially opened today (Friday) at the Millennium Salalah Hotel in Dhofar Governorate, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Saeed bin Harib Al-Lamki, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs.
The two-day conference, organized by the Oman Otorhinolaryngology Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has drawn approximately (250) participants from across Oman, GCC countries, the Arab world, and beyond. Over (70) expert speakers and consultants from Oman, the region, and international institutions are presenting during the event.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Jinan Al Abduawani, Consultant ENT Surgeon at Al-Nahdha Hospital and President of the Oman ENT Society, who welcomed attendees and emphasized the conference's role in advancing the specialty and fostering meaningful scientific exchange.
Dr. Musallam Kashoob, Head of the ENT Department at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, noted that reaching the 25th edition is a milestone that reflects the association's distinguished scientific journey and its commitment to continuous development and collaboration both locally and internationally.
During the ceremony, the patron of the event honored the organizers and supporting companies. He also inaugurated the accompanying scientific exhibition, featuring pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment suppliers from various countries, showcasing the latest innovations in ENT diagnostics, treatment, and surgical devices.
The conference program covers a broad spectrum of subspecialties through multiple sessions, panel discussions, and symposia. Key areas include Otology, Rhinology, Airway & Laryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, Sleep Medicine (OSA), Rhinoplasty, and Audio-Vestibular Medicine.
The 25th Oman ENT Conference aims to update participants on the latest medical and surgical advancements in ENT, showcase innovations in pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tools, and surgical technologies, facilitate exchange of expertise and successful treatment experiences, and strengthen local, regional, and international collaboration in otolaryngology.
The Oman Medical Specialty Board has accredited the conference and its associated workshops for 73.5 continuing medical education (CME) hours (Category A) for participating physicians.
Two hands-on workshops were held in the two days prior to the conference at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah. The first one was on Airway Management, which featured broad participation from medical professionals across Omani hospitals, led by local specialists. The second workshop was on Audiology and Balance, attended by audiologists and balance specialists from various health institutions, with contributions from speakers from Saudi Arabia and other international experts.
On Sunday and Monday, following the main conference, a Temporal Bone Dissection Workshop will take place, drawing ENT surgeons from Oman and abroad. The workshop will be led by both local and international faculty.
