In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar) signed an agreement today (Tuesday) at the Ministry’s headquarters in Al Khuwair with Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Work. The agreement provides funding for the purchase of medical equipment for Al Buraimi Hospital, with a total value of OMR 250000.
This initiative comes as part of Athar’s ongoing efforts to support healthcare institutions, with the aim of enhancing the quality of medical services provided to patients and strengthening the hospital’s capacity to deliver specialized healthcare.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Athar Foundation by H.E. Dr. Fatma Mohammed Al-Ajmi, Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Medical Specialty Board and Board member of Athar. Representing the Ministry of Health was Dr. Majid bin Rashid Al-Maqbali, Director General of Health Services in Al Buraimi Governorate. Dina bint Fawzi Al-Khalili, Director General of Al Jisr Foundation, signed on behalf of the charitable Foundation.
In a statement, Hilal bin Hamad Al-Sarmi, Executive Director of the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar), praised the continued collaboration of Al Jisr Foundation for addressing essential healthcare needs across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and supporting health projects implemented in these regions.
He emphasized that this ongoing partnership reflects a spirit of social solidarity and embodies humanitarian values in meaningfully supporting the healthcare sector.
Dr. Majid bin Rashid Al-Maqbali, Director General of Health Services in Al Buraimi Governorate, indicated that this agreement comes within the framework of ongoing initiatives and efforts led by the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar) and Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Work.
He stated that the agreement aims to support and strengthen the healthcare system, representing an investment in the health of both citizens and residents, as well as genuine support for the medical teams working at the hospital — enabling them to carry out their duties with the highest level of efficiency. This support, he added, is part of a comprehensive and well-structured plan to enhance the performance of healthcare institutions and improve their readiness to serve the community.
Al Buraimi Hospital is one of the key referral hospitals in the Sultanate due to its strategic location near border areas, serving a wide segment of the population in Al Buraimi Governorate as well as neighboring governorates such as North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and Musandam. This support is expected to make a significant impact in both diagnostics and treatment services.
Among the most notable equipment to be financed is an advanced surgical endoscopy system, which will enable highly precise surgeries using modern techniques — helping to reduce complications and speed up recovery times. Furthermore, a gastrointestinal endoscopy device will allow medical teams to better diagnose and treat digestive disorders, ultimately improving patients' health outcomes and overall quality of life.
The support package will also include the provision of a bone densitometry device for osteoporosis screening, as well as a portable dental unit specifically designed for use in operating rooms. This will enable the hospital to deliver comprehensive care for cases requiring medical intervention in surgical settings, reflecting a higher level of interdisciplinary integration among the hospital’s various departments.
