In line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate (the Health Committee of the Wilayat of Al-Seeb), organized today (Monday) the Second Forum for Health Committees in Muscat Governorate, held at the Office of the Wali of Al-Seeb.
The Forum inaugurated under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation, in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Shihi, Wali of Al-Seeb and Chairman of the Health Committee, along with a number of Their Excellencies the Walis, members of the Shura Council and Municipal Council, officials from the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, directors of health clusters, members of the governorate’s health committees, and representatives from government, private sector, and civil society authorities.
The Forum commenced with a speech delivered by H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Shihi, Wali of Al-Seeb and Chairman of the Wilayat Health Committee, in which he highlighted the importance of community partnership and the role of local leadership in transforming health initiatives into tangible and sustainable outcomes.
This was followed by a presentation delivered by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation, entitled “Health Committees as a Methodology for Health Promotion.” In his presentation, H.E. highlighted the integration of local initiatives with national policies to expand their impact and achieve sustainable health development.
The Forum continued with the screening of an introductory film about the Health Committee of the Wilayat of Al-Seeb, entitled “Partnership… Awareness… Empowerment,” which highlighted the wilayat’s journey of giving and volunteer work. This was followed by a visual presentation delivered by Dr. Alia bint Ali Al Hsani, entitled “Seeb: A Healthy City in the Global Network of Healthy Cities,” in which she highlighted the developmental journey that positions health as a way of life.
The Forum’s program also featured the key achievements of health committees and national and international initiatives aimed at promoting health. It highlighted leading national experiences in health promotion, as well as regional and international initiatives, including the inclusion of Al-Seeb Wilayat in the Global Network of Healthy Cities.
The program further showcased the main themes and key areas related to the Health Committees Forum in the Wilayat of Al-Seeb, along with its major achievements. It also celebrated shopping centers that received the Diamond Accreditation under the “Moazziz” Initiative, reflecting the integration of national efforts to reinforce the concept that health is a shared responsibility and to promote a better quality of life for the community.
The Forum also reviewed development plans, discussed the latest health updates, and held a series of sessions aimed at exchanging expertise and presenting practical outcomes and recommendations that contribute to enhancing the quality of work and strengthening institutional communication across all health sectors affiliated with the Ministry.
At the conclusion of the forum, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation, honored distinguished contributors, partners, and heads of health committees in Muscat Governorate, as well as shopping centers that received the Diamond Accreditation under the “Moazziz” Initiative, participating entities, evaluation committees, and members of the Health Committee of the Wilayat of Al-Seeb, in recognition of their dedicated efforts in supporting the community health system.
It is worth noting that the Forum is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to develop the healthcare system, enhance the efficiency of services provided, strengthen community partnership and promote healthy lifestyles among members of society, while supporting sustainable health initiatives.
