The Sultanate of Oman achieved a prominent presence at the Milan Global Pharmaceutical Exhibition (CPHI Milan 2026), participating with eight national pharmaceutical factories. It ranked fourth among Arab countries in terms of participating companies, standing among 51 Arab companies representing 11 countries. The participation resulted in the signing of four agreements and memoranda of understanding.
The signed agreements included a partnership between Dhofar Pharmaceutical Industries Company and the Iraqi Hydrogen Oncology Pharmaceuticals to establish a specialized oncology drug factory in Raysut Industrial City in Dhofar Governorate. "Dhofar" also signed a memorandum of understanding with "Felix" Pharmaceuticals to enhance industrial integration and benefit from available production capacities.
Regarding technology transfer, the Jordanian Sana Pharma and the National Pharmaceutical Industries Company signed a memorandum of understanding to exchange technical files for drugs and manufacturing expertise. Meanwhile, the fourth agreement pertains to the transfer of technology for manufacturing a modern diabetes treatment drug to Algeria, a step reflecting national companies' orientation toward exporting knowledge and pharmaceutical technologies.
The participation was distinguished by the presence of two manufacturers specialized in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredient: "Al Wajer Pharmaceuticals " and "Pen-G General Integrated Industries."
The Sultanate of Oman was represented by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, and Sohar International, alongside a number of national factories. The goal was to introduce the Sultanate's manufacturing and investment capabilities, explore cooperation opportunities with international companies in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and transfer technology and export.
This participation comes amid the growth of the pharmaceutical industries sector in Oman. The value of pharmaceutical and medical product exports reached approximately 26.5 million Omani Rials during the past year 2025. This coincides with a trend toward developing specialized industrial clusters, including Salalah project for a pharmaceutical and medical industries in Dhofar Governorate, and a medical and pharmaceutical cluster in Khazaen Economic Zone.
The prominent participation in Milan and the signed agreements reflect the efforts aimed at attracting specialized industrial investments, localizing technology, enhancing integration between national factories, opening new markets for national products, and diversifying the production and export base. This supports drug security and achieves the objectives of "Oman Vision 2040."
