In line with the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, to allocate funding for the treatment of zakat beneficiaries, the Ministry of Health (MOH), through the Health Endowment Foundation “Athar”, is launching the second edition of the Zakat Beneficiaries Treatment Initiative in the private healthcare sector.
The initiative aims to provide treatment for eligible zakat beneficiaries, thereby reinforcing the spirit of social cohesion that is an integral part of Omani society. It further underscores the importance of upholding the values of solidarity and generosity, enhancing quality of life, reducing the healthcare gap, and accelerating access to health services across different segments of society.
Registration for treatment requests for zakat beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs will open on Sunday, July 5, and continue until Saturday, August 20, 2026.
Applications may be submitted via the registration link on the Ministry of Health’s e-health portal, which has been designated to enable zakat beneficiaries to register for the initiative and access the provided medical services. Applications may also be submitted through zakat committees affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the various governorates.
Submitted applications will be cross-checked against the list of registered zakat beneficiaries at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Approved applications will then be forwarded to the Ministry of Health, where they will be aligned with surgical and diagnostic imaging waiting lists. The Ministry will subsequently determine the private healthcare facility where each surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedure will be carried out according to the medical needs of each case.
Applicants will be notified of the designated location and appointment for receiving the required treatment. The Ministry of Health and Athar Foundation will continue to follow up on cases until the completion of the required medical procedures.
The initiative includes surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging services in private hospitals across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in order to accelerate treatment delivery and reduce waiting lists in referral hospitals.
