In continuation of the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, on allocating funds for the treatment of zakat beneficiaries, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, through the Health Endowment Foundation “Athar,” are launching the second edition of the Zakat Beneficiaries Treatment Initiative in the private healthcare sector.
These Royal directives are intended to ensure the provision of medical treatment for eligible zakat beneficiaries, reflecting and reinforcing the spirit of social cohesion that is an integral part of Omani society. They further underscore the importance of solidarity and giving, while enhancing quality of life, narrowing the healthcare gap, and accelerating access to health services across different segments of society.
The registration for treatment requests for zakat beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs will begin in early July and continue until mid-August. Treatment procedures are scheduled to commence at the beginning of September 2026.
The initiative includes surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging services in private hospitals across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, to accelerate treatment and reduce waiting lists in referral hospitals.
