The Medical Response and Public Health Sector and the Health Sector of the National Risk Register held their first join meeting, chaired by H.E. Dr. Saeed bin Harib Al-Lamki, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs- Chairman of the Sectors, and attended by representatives from member entities across both sectors.
At the outset, H.E. Dr. Al Lamki welcomed the attendees and commended their ongoing efforts to enhance integration, mobilize resources, and facilitate pathways toward achieving national health objectives. He also praised the spirit of cooperation and coordination among various stakeholders, which he said played a significant role in ensuring successful responses to emergencies of all kinds.
The meeting then proceeded with a presentation by the Director General of the National Center for Emergency & Health Risks Management, who reviewed key activities carried out during the first half of 2026. These included the foundational training of the National Medical Emergency Team, in addition to the joint drills: namely are the functional exercise on health security emergencies conducted in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), and the international public health emergency drill. The presentation also highlighted the main outcomes of these activities and achievements made by the participating member entities.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the action plan for the second half of 2026, outlining the major activities scheduled for implementation in the coming months.
Discussions during the session also tackled a number of potential health risks, along with strategies and mitigation plans to reduce their impact—safeguarding lives and minimizing material losses.
In closing, the Health Affairs Undersecretary underscored the importance of sustained communication and coordination among member entities, and stressed the need for regular meetings to discuss emerging developments.
