H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, minister of Health received today (Sunday) at his office H.E. Dr. Hassan Muhammad al-Ghobash, Minister of Health in Syria and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate for several days.

The official visit aims at sharing the best leading practices and experiences in Oman in emergency operations centers and management, mechanisms for public health response, as well the mechanism followed by the Sultanate in COVID-19 preparedness and response, in addition to the strategies and approaches used to contain the pandemic in public health care system.

The meeting exchanged cordial conversations and explored matters of common concern in the various health care areas between the two brotherly countries as well the important achievements. 

MOH’s Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs H.E. Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, and the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Sultanate attended the meeting, along with the guest’s accompanying delegation and number of MOH’s senior officials.

Moreover, official discussions were held today chaired by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi from the Omani side, and H.E. Dr. Hassan Muhammad Al-Ghabbash Minister of Health in Syria from the Syrian side.

The session reviewed package of health indicators in Oman and highlighted the Sultanate’s experience in coordinating preparedness and response to covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, concept and aspects for public health emergency and management as applied in the Sultanate were discussed. The session further reviewed priorities and surveillance capacities of public health laboratories at pandemic context, and addressed the social determinants of health, as well touching upon the health cities project.
