MOH Marks World Physiotherapy Day
As part of the National Medical Rehabilitation Campaign, launched in mid-August, the Ministry of Health (MOH) marked today (Wednesday) World Physiotherapy Day that is observed on September 8 every year. This year’s theme ‘Rehabilitation and Long COVID’ focuses on rehabilitation and Long COVID, and the role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of people affected by Long COVID.
The Campaign, which is organized by the Omani Physiotherapy Association (OPTA) in collaboration with the MOH’s department of Medical Rehabilitation Services, is continuing its activities.
The departments of medical rehabilitation and physical therapy in a number of hospitals and specialized polyclinics are conducting fitness program "stay active...stay safe" targeting medical, para-medical, nursing staff, and administrators. The program at this stage is implemented in the Royal, Khawla, Sultan Qaboos University, Sohar, Khasab, Jalan Bani Bu Ali hospitals, in addition to Aseeb and Bushar Specialized Polyclinics.
Meanwhile, the rest of the other hospitals will carry out the campaign’s activities as scheduled by the national campaign’s organizing committee.
The program aims at promoting and spreading awareness about physical and health fitness, highlighting their significance in alleviating work stress and promoting mental health particularly those on direct contact with covid-19 patients.
Along with "Stay active...stay safe" program, adopted in the national drive, other programs will be conducted including the Free Online Consultation Program "You talk...we listen" that addresses complications of covid-19 infection for various community segments.
